Ferguson-Easley Elementary parents and children enjoy the nutritional items that Cafeteria manager, Ms. Denise Murphy, offers during the national school campaign for breakfasts. Each year the School Nutrition Association (SNA) sponsors the National School Breakfast Week during the first full week of March. SNA is committed to advancing school meal programs as is Cumberland County’s Child Nutrition Services. This year the week-long celebration was held March 5-9, 2018. To encourage the healthy choice of eating breakfast the Ferguson-Easley Cafeteria Manager, Ms. Denise Murphy, partnered with the Cumberland County Association of Educators (CCAE) to celebrate National School Breakfast Week. On Wednesday, March 7th, Ferguson-Easley Elementary School parents ate breakfast with their children. While all students eat free at this elementary school, the bill for parent’s meals was paid for by the CCAE. Studies show that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to have better concentration and alertness. CCAE partnered with Ferguson-Easley Elementary to advocate eating nutritious breakfasts because this could also affect student attendance, behavior, and academic performance.
