Logo for Every minute counts promotion“Curriculum” and “Instruction” are two big words.  Their meanings are equally as large. For Cumberland County Schools curriculum and instruction deals with automatically using the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for each grade level. All public schools in the state of North Carolina adhere to these curriculum standards which are comprised of the Common Core State Standards for mathematics and literacy and Essential Standards for all other curriculum areas.

To promote our school’s adherence to curriculum and instruction standards, we scheduled a FEES Parent Teacher Organization meeting called the “INCREDIBLE TITLE 1/ CURRICULUM NIGHT” for Tuesday, September 24th, starting at 4 pm and ending at 5:30 pm.  Important information was  shared during the event and there were prizes and incredible edibles too, even homework passes were available for FEES students in attendance. Over one hundred people participated in this event.

In preparation for the event several members of the FEES Family worked on Saturday, the 21st, to get the school ready.  The work effort was organized by Mr. Chapman, head custodian.  Mrs. McDowell, Mrs. McRae, Ms. Melvin, Ms. Cauthen, and Ms. McClellan from the staff along with Ms. Snells, president of the FEES Parent Teacher Organization, joined him. (Ms. Alfreda Williams, another parent volunteer, donated decorations for the media center.)

With curriculum and instruction each minute counts.
